Before You Begin: Clean Installation

When you first visit the Low Price Dito website on Safari or Chrome, the PWA installs itself in the background. If you then add the app to your home screen, two copies now exist on your device. One copy lives in the browser. One copy lives on your home screen as a standalone app. These two copies can conflict with each other and cause data problems.

Follow these steps before using the app.

Close the browser tab where you first opened Low Price Dito.
Open the app from your home screen icon. It launches in full screen mode without a browser address bar.
Tap the menu icon at the top left corner of the screen.
Tap Privacy and Settings.
Scroll to the bottom of the Privacy and Settings page.
Tap the red Delete All Data button.
Confirm both warning prompts. This permanently removes all cached data inherited from the browser version.
The app reloads automatically with a clean data environment.

Perform this procedure once after installation. It is not required again.

Setting Up Your Profile and Location

The Privacy & Settings page is where you personalize the app. You can reach it from the menu at any time.

Profile Settings

Nickname. This name appears on the dashboard greeting and on any community posts you share in the TipiDito Consumer Insight feed. Tap the Nickname field, type your preferred display name, and tap Save Profile.

Planner Name. This changes the main heading of the app. A family might name it "Santos Family Budget." An individual might use "My Personal Finances." Tap the Planner Name field, type your preferred title, and tap Save Profile.

Location Settings

Province. Select your province from the dropdown menu. The list loads actual Philippine provinces from the server.

City or Municipality. After selecting a province, the city dropdown populates. Select your city or municipality.

Barangay. After selecting a city, the barangay dropdown populates. Select your barangay.

Email Address. Enter a valid email address. This email is used only for optional PIN recovery. It is stored locally on your device and never uploaded to any server.

Tap Save Location and Email to store your settings.

PIN Protection

Toggle the PIN switch to the on position. Enter a 6-digit numeric PIN. Confirm the PIN by entering it again. Tap Save PIN.

The app now locks behind a PIN screen each time it opens. If you share your device with family members, your budget data remains private.

Forgot PIN recovery. If you forget your PIN, tap the Forgot PIN button on the lock screen. The app sends a reset link to the email you provided in your location settings. The link uses your permanent device author hash for verification. The reset link only works on the device where the PIN was originally set. Tap the link from your email app. The PIN is disabled. You can set a new PIN in Settings.

Dashboard Overview

The dashboard is the first screen you see after unlocking the app. It provides a complete financial summary at a glance.

Current List Total

The left summary card displays the combined value of all active items across your supermarket list, palengke list, and bills. It shows the count of supermarket items, palengke items, and bills currently waiting on your lists.

This Month Total

The right summary card displays the total amount you have recorded as paid during the current calendar month. It shows the number of expenses recorded.

Category Breakdown Bars

Three horizontal bar charts display your spending distribution. The green bar represents supermarket grocery spending. The dark green bar represents palengke or wet market spending. The blue bar represents household bills. The bar width is proportional to the largest category.

Recent Expenses

The bottom section lists your five most recent recorded expenses. Each entry shows the date, item count, bill count, and grand total.

How to Use the Price Comparison Tool with Your Shopping List

The supermarket shopping list connects directly to the Low Price Dito price comparison tool. This integration means you do not manually type product names, stores, or prices. You search, compare, and add with a single tap.

Open the Compare page. Tap the search bar from any screen or navigate to Compare from the menu. You can also use the quick search modal that appears from the bottom navigation on mobile.
Search for a product. Type any grocery item. Cooking oil. Coffee. Bathroom tissue. Laundry detergent. Rice. The search returns real prices collected from multiple Philippine supermarkets.
Filter by store if needed. Above the search results, a filter bar displays checkboxes for each supermarket. Uncheck a store to hide its prices. Check it again to show them. This helps you compare only the stores you actually visit.
Review the results. Each product result appears as a card. The card shows the product name at the top. Below it, a table lists each store with the size variant and the price. Prices are sorted from lowest to highest. A trend indicator shows whether the price went up, down, or stayed the same compared to the previous day.
Add items to your list. Each row in the results table has a + List button. Tap it once. The product name, store, size variant, and price are added to your supermarket shopping list instantly. The button briefly turns green with a checkmark to confirm. A sound plays to confirm the action.
Open your supermarket list. After adding all your items, navigate to the Supermarket page from the menu. All your selected items are there. You can still tap any price to adjust it before or after shopping.

Browsing without a specific search. If you do not have a particular product in mind, the Compare page shows popular searches from other shoppers. Tap any suggestion to see current prices. You can also scroll through the full product catalog.

Quick search shortcuts. On mobile, the bottom navigation has a search icon. Tapping it opens a full screen search overlay. Type your product and press enter. You are taken directly to the Compare results page.

Supermarket Shopping List

This module manages grocery purchases from supermarkets such as SM Supermarket, Puregold, Robinsons, WalterMart, Landmark, and others tracked by the price comparison tool.

Updating Prices After Shopping

After completing your grocery run, tap any price on your list. The cell becomes an editable input field. Type the actual amount shown on your receipt and press Enter. The item displays a green checkmark indicating the price is verified against a real purchase.

Removing an Item

Tap the X button next to any item to remove it from your list. There is no undo. The item is removed immediately.

Recording a Grocery Expense

When you finish shopping, tap Mark as Paid. Review the confirmation dialog showing the number of items and the total amount. Confirm to save. The expense is recorded in your ledger with full item details including product names, stores, sizes, and verified prices. Your supermarket list clears automatically. Your palengke list and bills remain untouched.

Palengke Shopping List

This module manages wet market purchases. It uses Filipino units of measurement that palengke vendors actually use.

Adding an Item

Tap the Add Item button. Enter the item name such as "tilapia" or "kangkong". Enter the quantity. Select the unit from the dropdown menu. Available units are kilo, gram, piece, bundle, and tali. Enter the price per unit. Tap Add.

Reading the Price Columns

The table displays both the unit price and the extended line total. If pork costs 320 pesos per kilo and you purchase 3 kilos, the Unit Price column shows 320.00 and the Amount column shows 960.00. This matches how vendors quote prices and how buyers calculate totals.

Updating Prices After Haggling

Palengke prices often change after negotiating with the vendor. Tap any price to update it with the final amount you paid. Verified prices display a green checkmark.

Recording a Palengke Expense

Tap Mark as Paid. Only palengke items are saved to the ledger. Your supermarket list and bills remain untouched. This allows separate recording of a Saturday morning palengke trip and a Sunday afternoon grocery run. Each trip receives its own entry in your spending history.

Household Bills Tracker

This module manages recurring payments including utilities, loans, and subscriptions.

Pre-loaded Philippine Categories

The app includes common Philippine bill categories. Meralco. Water. Internet. Mobile Load. Rent. Insurance. Car Loan. Personal Loan. Tuition. Credit Card. You can add custom categories as needed.

Adding a Bill

Tap the Add Bill button. Select a category from the dropdown or type a new category name. Enter the amount. Optionally set a due date. Tap Add.

Bill Due Reminders

If you grant notification permission, the app checks your bills every hour. When a bill due date falls within three days, you receive a device notification with the category, amount, and days remaining. Tapping the notification opens the bills page.

Recurring Bills

When you record a bill as paid, the app saves it as a recurring template. Next month the same bill appears on your list automatically. You do not need to re-enter monthly obligations like rent or internet.

My Stash: Savings Account Tracker

This module tracks savings across Philippine banks, digital banks, and e-wallets.

Automatic Savings Detection

The app scans your existing bills for savings-related entries. If a bill category matches a known Philippine financial institution, the app automatically creates a corresponding savings account entry. The app also recognizes Filipino savings terms including "ipon" and "alkansya."

Adding an Account

Tap the Add Account button. Enter a descriptive name such as "Emergency Fund" or "Christmas Savings." Enter the current balance. Tap Add.

Updating Balances

Tap any balance amount. It becomes an editable field. Type the updated balance from your banking app or e-wallet and press Enter. The total across all accounts updates automatically.

Removing an Account

Tap the X button next to any account to remove it from the tracker.

My Ledger: Expense History

This module provides a complete record of all recorded expenses with filtering and visualization.

Date Filtering

Use the dropdown menu to filter expenses by preset periods. This month. Last month. Last three months. Last six months. Select Custom to specify exact start and end dates using the date pickers.

Summary Statistics

Three metrics appear at the top of the ledger. Total number of expenses in the selected period. Total amount spent. Average amount per expense.

Spending Line Chart

A line graph displays monthly spending totals. The chart is rendered using the Canvas API with no third party dependencies. A rising line indicates increasing spending. A falling line indicates decreasing spending. A flat line indicates stable spending.

Viewing and Deleting Expenses

Tap any expense row to expand it and see every individual item. Verified items display a green checkmark. To delete an expense, expand it, tap the Delete button, and confirm.

TipiDito Consumer Insight: Community Feed

This module displays real prices shared by real shoppers across the Philippines. It is a community driven price transparency feed.

Viewing the Feed

The main feed displays approved posts from community members. Each post card shows the author's display name, city and province, time since posting, title, body content, photo if attached, tags, upvote count, and comment count. Tap any post title or image to view the full post and its comments.

Creating a Post

Tap the plus button at the bottom right corner. Complete your profile in Settings first. Required fields are nickname, email, city, province, and PIN. Write a title and body. Add tags separated by commas. Optionally attach a photo. Tap Submit Post. Posts enter a moderation queue before appearing on the public feed.

Viewing Your Posts

Open the menu and tap My Insights. This page displays all posts you have created. Each post shows its approval status. A green badge indicates approved and visible. A yellow badge indicates pending review. A red badge indicates rejected.

Deleting Your Post

On the My Insights page, tap the trash icon on any post. Confirm the deletion. The post is permanently removed from the database and the public feed.

Data Backup and Restore

All budget data is stored locally on your device. The backup feature allows you to export and transfer your data.

Creating a Backup

Navigate to Settings. Tap Download Backup. A JSON file named "my-purse-backup-YYYY-MM-DD.json" downloads to your device. This file contains all your shopping lists, bills, expense history, savings accounts, and settings. Store this file in a secure location.

Restoring a Backup

Navigate to Settings. Tap Restore Backup. Select a previously downloaded backup file. The app restores all data from the file. The page reloads automatically with your restored data.

Transferring to a New Device

Create a backup on your old device. Transfer the backup file to your new device through email, messaging app, or file sharing. Open the app on your new device. Go to Settings. Tap Restore Backup. Select the transferred file. All your data appears on the new device.

Is the budget planner free?

Yes. All features are free. Supermarket lists with price comparison. Palengke tracking with Filipino units. Bills management with due date reminders. Savings tracking with bank recognition. Does it work offline?

Yes. After installing the app on your home screen, it works without an internet connection. All data is stored locally on your device. You can add items, update prices, and record expenses at the palengke or supermarket with no signal.

No. Your personal data stays on your device. No account. No login. Only anonymized price data is shared to help build community price comparisons. Your identity is never attached.
